All 21 opening gunbarrel sequences from the James Bond franchise. I have put together a little video of all the James Bond movie openings, the bit where you see 007 through a gun barrel.

(Yes, it's a gun barrel... some folks think it's something else... but I grew up with guns and if you have a pistol, and look through the barrel at a white wall, you see the rifling and reflections JUST like in those openings).

I annotated the video with some interesting factoids. For example, it wasn't Sean Connery in the first three movie openings, it was stuntman Bob Simmons. Starting with the Pierce Brosnan film, the opening was redone with CGI. Before that, it was pretty much the same high contrast drawing from Dr No through License to Kill.

One thing to look for is how Sean Connery wobbles when he crouches and shoots. George Lazenby is the only Bond to drop to a knee and shoot. The editors repeated the same opening (except for music) for the first films, changed it for Lazenby's outing as Bond, then recopied the older openings for Connery's reprisal as Bond. It was the Roger Moore films where they reshot the sequence several times over the 8 films he did.

  • So, how did Sean Connery get into playing "Never Say Never"? (no gun barrell btw). I like how the Brosnan ones had that reflection effect, last one with the bullet traveling down the barrell.

  • @doctorfeelucky Connery was heavily involved in this remake's script, and his wife even suggested the title.

  • despite the fact that these are movies, Dr. No looked like a pilot opening.

  • @stevethemeave45 It really did.. but given the level of technology back in the day, it was way better than TV.

  • What's interesting is that there are 22 films but the actual gunbarrel sequence was only filmed 9 times.

1: Bob for DN re-used for FRWL & GF.

2: Sean for TB then re-used for YOLT & DAF.

    3: George for OHMSS

4: Roger for LALD then re-used for TMWTGG

5: Roger again for TSWLM then re-used for MR, FYEO, OP and AVTAK

6: Timothy for TLD re-used for LTK

7: Pierce for GE and re-used for TND, TWINE & DAD

    8: Daniel for CR

    9: Daniel for QOS

  • @Stenbrotsgatan That's right... they had to save money somewhere...

  • *HA "YOU MISSED!!!"

...I know...I know...then some of you guys would go like Bond never miss...

  • @oldtex1959 found that name of that actress from Never Say Never..Nicaraguan born ex-model. Barbara Carrera

  • The earliest ones were much better than the most recent.. Note also how the bond character walks slower in the early ones and crouches more as he fires the gun.

  • @oldtex1959 for Bond officianados -- can you tell me in 1983 Sean Connery Never Say Never Again Bond film, what is the name of the beautiful actress who says, "fast cars and pretty clothes." towards the start of the film? - Thank you, :)

  • Sean Connery is James Bond but lets face it........Bronsan had the coolest turn and shoot

  • @DEACONAP4LOVE Did you watch the end of the movie?
