@cricketbat08 I dig the part where she sings a line from this one on the medley with her, Sylvie and Petula.

Francoise sings on the second line, 'If we are only friends why do you hold me all night through'. That's what we did in the 60's. We believed in love and could hold our girl all night through with no thought of 'Humping'. That could wait until we were married. I married my girl 41 years ago and I still 'hold her all night through'.

I bought the 45 single of Only friends in 1964 when I was 19 and have never tired of it. It is my favourite song of Francoise and that beautiful French accent is so wonderful to listen to. She has a quiet, sensual voice, and a classic beauty that made many a young boy fall for her. And she remains to this day a beautiful woman.

Listening to this song is like walking down memory lanes of the sixties. Her voice is sweet and showing much that she is French when she sings in English. I was in the early teens and loved singing this very song.

Does she really sing 'hump' in the second line?

If we are just friends why do you humo me whole night through? 00:18 seconds ;)

When I was a little kid my cousin played it from the record he bought in the early late 60s or 70s. Then it was 20 years later, one day I realized I can find songs using internet now. So I asked from my Becky email client mailing list and someone from Europe burn me a cd full of her songs, including this English version.... Nostalgic..

For some reason, this song had been lost. I had to really hunt to find it. This was the first song I really remember as a young child. I just had to find it :)

You are welcome.. from my earliest childhood too. I never forgot this song, and it took me a long time to find it in English.
