For as long as I know her work, Ute talks about the 'jewish' composers. At one Almeida theatre concert, she just wouldn't stop talking about the 'jewish' composers - dreadful, even though the concert itself was good
Those composers in the Weimar Republic NEVER wanted to be classed as 'jewish' - that's a Nazi thing! They wanted to be considered modern German citizens, and being constantly called 'jewish' by a singer who for some reason thinks she does them a (bear) 'service', is just appaling.

I think you are being to hard on her. She is making the point that the jews have contributed so much to culture. The fact that they were jews IS important as well as the fact that they were German, even more so given the fact they were German.
