Wow ... After Krakatoa and Tambora... some of you want to fault human error for all of this? Go study plate tectonics - there's more at work than you're taking into account.

I think it's safe to say that we're screwing this earth up. . . . . and ourselves in the process.

This volcano won't stop for quite a long time if ever. I wouldn't be surprised if everything dropped into the hole in an attempt to plug it up has already dissolved.
-
This may not work as the mud is already penetrating the dikes built to contain it. Within 20 years, the mud flow will contain a minimum of everything between the two rivers and pump your toxic mud into both rivers. This will cause sand bars out in the ocean and eventually new habitats for sea life. If the ocean levels drop afterwards, it will create new land itself.
-
The disaster is already underway, the "toxic" mud is already flowing into the river through natural ways but pumping it simply prevents further disasters on land by attempting to keep the mud lower than a certain level.
-
thats the way make another disaster by pumping the toxic mud into a river top effort, shameful
-
this why the Gulf Oil Spill won't be stopped, BECAUSE ITS NOT POSSIBLE!
This is not the actual mud volcano, it is the hot mud being pumped away into the nearby Porong River. It's just to give visual effect of what the mud looks like and the high temperature. The centre of the mud volcano (Luci) is about 3km away from the this pipeline discharge point.
