I was in Kamakura, Japan yesterday and was fortunate enough to catch someone practicing their archery (kyudo) in the Zen temple of Kencho-ji. The process of Kyudo is an extension of Zen meditation training. The video is not of high quality, but one should be able to discern the years of practice. The archer's forearms (a woman) ripples with muscles. I don't know the pounds of pull strength, but it has to be high (50 plus?). The target she shot at was about 25 meters and hit it dead on.

  • Really, what tells you he's a beginner?! I would say, judjing by the posture, movements, form, timing etc, that is not a beginer. Besides, what is that "!" suppose to mean? Is there anything wrong with one being a beginer?

  • beginner!
