This song was put together for us to show you that sometimes "simple" is the best thing in worship. Over the years I have played with many different people in many different settings, the best worship sets have been the ones where you simply enjoy God and the music is forgotten because of the sweetness of His embrace.

As worship leaders we have the chance to show that and embrace that. When we over play and forget to create space in the sound, then we can rip people out of their God encounters, and instead make it about the music.

In this song I really accent the bridge of the song, but play the shaker just to keep a rhythm and time for the rest, allowing the lyrics to be absorbed into the heart, but accenting the all of my delight is in Him. Imagine a heart beat, in that moment, the heart starts to race because the bride has just seen her groom, that she has been singing about for the last few moments....I tried to communicate that with percussion..

  • Hi, what is that shaker style instrument called? Do Latin Percussion sell it?

  • @chaudchaudchaud It is called a Caxixi. My particular one is a Toca, however LP does make one too. Theirs is a leather bottom, mine is a plastic. For acoustic sets I like leather, it is more subtle, but I always have the plastic because it cuts through more with a full band. I did not have the LP at the time I made this.

  • Hey I played this song for church this morning after watching this youtube video for several days in a row, haha (it sounds so good!). Anyway, I have some questions. First, I noticed that you have a different mic on your djembe on top that what I've seen on your video about how to mic a djembe. Also, the bass on your djembe sounds great. Is that because its mic'd too on the bottom? Or is that just its natural boom? I've seen that djembe for about $350, does that sound like a reasonable price?

  • @Puritan830 First of all, I am blessed that you used my idea in your worship. That's basically why I make these videos!! The mic I used in these videos is a Shure Beta 98d/s. Its a pretty pricey mic that I usually only use for my congas in loud stage situations. However the record-ability of this mic is outstanding, hence why I used it to record the sound in these videos:) I actually forgot to mic the bottom, and the bass was picked up mainly by my overhead, which is a Rodes Nt1a.

  • @Puritan830 Also if you can get my djembe for $350, DO IT!! that's almost $100 less than I payed for it!!! The warm tones it gives makes it such an excellent djembe. I do get some power bass off of it too. Used to make the wires on my drummers snare buzz everytime i hit it:)

  • I liked it! ♥ † ♥
