@Molhedim It's not fancy at all. It's a "nuclear battery", which develops heat for many years through radioactive decay and then makes electricity from some of the heat and uses the rest to keep the rover's instruments warm through a system of tubes in the body of the rover.

They can't use solar panels, as the rover must work during the cold and dark winter for several years.

They used the same technology on the Mars Viking landers back in the mid 70s and on the Voyager probes in the late 70s.
