nice cable cam did it take you long to build and how much did it cost?

Didn't take too long to make. Its all made of Meccano. Basically it is a two wheeled trolley with a mounting point for a Sony handycam and an external lipstick lens. The trolley runs along about 60m of plastic coated clothes line cable under gravity alone. Didn't cost me much to build as all the Meccano is from when I was a kid. The only expense was the cable - about AU$50. Also spent a few dollars on end fittings straps and end stop padding (bubblewrap!).

i wish you had used a better quality camera. The shot is unbelievable as it gets closer to the ground, the quality is disgusting

Quality of un-compressed original is very good. I'm using a Sony MiniDV camera with helmet camera lens input of better quality than the Sony camera itself. I just need to learn how to do better video compression. Original .avi file is 800MB.
