Now this, *this* is pretty strange. Camel News Caravan (what a title!) was the first regular television news program in the United States, running from 1949 to 1956. And, as this clip from Granada's 1985 documentary series Television shows, they had their own unique way of presenting stories they had no footage for. This is so shockingly amateur, it almost makes Fox News look like a proper news service. Almost.
Hi NoMarkX Enjoyed this immensely. Could you recommend where i might find the whole of the Granada show. Much appreciate it Thanks

"This is so shockingly amateur". To be fair, they were doing something brand new; making it up as they went along. David Brinkley's memoir talks about this groundbreaking program.

The Camel Camera was the forerunner of the Huntley Brinkley report on NBC.

That's what NBC's first nightly newscast was like---15 minutes, Monday through Friday [7:45-8pm(et)], anchored by John Cameron Swayze, with the sponsor's influence clearly stated from the start. Nobody was EVER mentioned as having died from "smoking"...and ONLY Winston Churchill could be shown smoking a cigar! Very few kinnies of "CAMEL NEWS CARAVAN" are known to exist.
