Shirley Joshi speaking on inviting Malcolm X to Smethwick

IN MEMORY OF SHIRLEY JOSHI

Shirley Joshi died on Saturday 10 December; for those of you who never met her, she was a wonderful woman, she invited Malcolm X to Smethwick to highlight racism in the area, she was pivotal in setting up ASIRT and was an active member on the management committee for many years. All her life and even in ill health she campaigned and talked passionately against injustice. She was always modest and downplayed her part in history; however, her actions and campaigning made history and impacted on many peoples lives.

Every time someone stands up against injustice Shirley lives on, a true fighter, forever young at heart and forever in our thoughts.
