Norman Borlaug 95th Birthday Celebration

The Vice Chancellor and Dean for Agriculture and Life Sciences, the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Programs and the Texas A&M Department of Soil and Crop Sciences hosted a 95th birthday luncheon for Dr. Norman Borlaug in Dallas on March 25, 2009. Dignitaries from Texas A&M, the USDA and many more from around the world joined family and friends to celebrate the Nobel Laureate's many accomplishments.

At the event, Monsanto announced a $10 million grant establishing the Beachell-Borlaug International Scholars program. The program will help identify and support young scientists interested in improving research and production in rice and wheat. The grant will be administered by Texas AgriLife Research.
