With the Oregon Symphony Orchestra.

1949 performance.

Janssen (1899-1990) was a German-American who formed his own orchestra, the Janssen Symphony of Los Angeles, in the late 40s. He became music director of the Portland Symphony (a.k.a., Oregon Symphony) for two years. This performance is with the Portland Symphony Chorus. He gave many recording debuts of obscure works, and is heard on the soundtrack to "2001: A Space Odyssey."
