My first video of 2009. Since I bought a new computer yesterday, I think I can make a experimental video. Using all of my "New" multimedia devices (Computer, Digital Camera, and Microphone) I made a video of HMV 102 playing 'Nessun Dorma' by "Turandot", sung by Jussi Bjorling for RCA Victor in 1944. My personal best performance of this particular aria.

I filmed the video with Digital camera, and attached the microphone on both Camera and Computer, so the two recordings will be synchronized. It's not a dubbing from some other sources!

The result is nice, but since it takes me too much time to edit, I think I can post these kinds of videos only for special occasions. But anyway, hope you'll like this.

  • Its a late record so the sound wouldn't have impressed me so much if played modern but that 102 never sounded so good for me. I'm amazed that sticking a mike in the horn sounds so good.

  • Actually, you are not the only one amazed by the result....:-)

  • I'm amazed people have this material to share.

  • What needle are you using?

  • What a beautiful singer and an old 78 a well. Those guys new a thing or two about mike placement. Loved it happy new year.

  • excellent...

  • Your introduction and Notes invariably add to our enjoyment of any topic you present to your fans -- much appreciated, thankyou Mark! Your closeup shot of the sound head towards the end brought to mind the awe I felt as a child, watching how a needle in a spinning, wiggly groove could produce such wonderful sounds. Happy New Year to you, and we await viewing (and hearing) more of your treasures in 2009.

  • Hello, transformingArt, wonderful, genius,

and BRAVO, happy New Year, I loved it!!!

    Best, Marcie B.
