Sicilienne - Flute and Piano

With joundyy playing at a refreshingly brisk pace :-)

On my first day of flute lessons, I was sitting in my teacher's living room waiting for someone else to finish. It was an advanced student, and she was playing the most beautiful flute piece I'd ever heard.

I learned that it was Faure's 'Sicilienne,' and right then I decided that I was going to practice hard and not quit lessons until my teacher gave me that song.

Even after all these years, I can still play it almost entirely by memory.

I'm wondering if due to the tempo the long notes sound a bit clipped at the end (shortened, cut-off). Or, this might sound better at a slightly slower tempo, and trail the long notes off at the end - but right to the end (like a "fade" in sound or video editing). Otherwise very nice indeed!

i think it's more likely because I wasn't breathing deeply enough, and ran out. but yeah, there's a lot i could improve on in terms of that trailing fade.

As a fellow flute player, I was wondering if you played it by hear, or if you use sheet music. If you have sheet music, where did you find it?

I feel as thought the piano over powered the flute playing. However, that could be due to the microphone on the camera. Otherwise pitch, tone, and execution was outstanding!

That is such a sweet story. i completely understand. My orchestra(I play viola) sight read the Sicilene last year and I wanted to play it so badly! Unfortunately not everyone was comfortable playing it so we had to take it out of our concert. This is absolutely beautiful, you're very talented. I hope someday I can play this piece.
