    Haiti is not the first Black republic. They are the first to have gained independence from Europeans in the Western Hemisphere, but obviously countries and republics exhisted BEFORE being occupied by Europeans.

  • @MyssMoxie Just a bit of history the name "Haiti" derive fr the Arawak Indian language Ayiti, Bohio or Quisqueya "originals of the Island" means "Land of many mountains" (Hopefully I translated it well for you "Terre Montagneuse), the name was restored to the country, a promess made by Toussaint Louverture And Dessalines to the indigenous people for helping them and their people hide, travel, find, food, remedies through the mountains and the fact that most of them were killed so in their honor
