@BKKaye If you're unwilling or unable to take a few hits, you shouldn't be doing this sort of training. At least by practising the attacks on each other in a controlled manner, you can get a feel for how effective the attack is.

I sure wish I could have met this amazing man. I have been reading and watching ww2 combatives stuff for a while, but this is the first I have seen this. can anyone offer guidance.......do you still keep the hand in the tiger claw formation or are you straightening the fingers out more? also are you making contact with the fingers or the palm first?

Poor guy. Those had to hurt!

@BKKaye There are special helmets you can use for full force eye gouging. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be any "padded play". When I took shootfighting (for example), I said to the head of my system that getting choked freaks me out. He said that chokes are all I should work on for awhile. This person getting jabbed in the throat is going to have a MUCH better understanding of the technique than someone who attended but didn't participate. I understand your point though.

@creepychris11 First let me say that I think Cestari is great. But...We aren't trying to learn how to take a blow but we are learning how to deliver the blow, and for that I don't need to know how it feels. I don't ever want to know what it feels like to get knocked out. Shall I demonstrate an eye gouge?? Accidents and injuries and even death in classrooms can happen this way.

@BKKaye Really? You will never fully understand how to do a technique unless it has been done to you. The instructor who always has his students "padded up" is the irresponsible one. A cop must get tazered before he is allowed to tazer anyone. Do you see what I'm getting at?
-
@budfr - This technique comes from a Kata. It is in many forms, as he said "very Chinese influenced". If you don't have an understanding of Kata, you make statements like this... it's called Lack of Knowledge! You said "useless crap, dancing and screaming"... these things have nothing to do with Kata. What you know about kata is what you've heard being Parroted by every "combat" expert who did not find the right teacher to train under.

what an a-hole for actually hitting his students. Sure he pulled them but nonetheless without frickin pads this is irresponsible.
-
must suck to get hit in the throat repeatedly with a plastic hand.....

@SoaresBruno1 Type in 'Las Vegas PD' and check out the takedown that illustrates exactly how well the concept works.

@SoaresBruno1 Ehhh,.......it's that exaggerated if you get the head off line of the body. The body follows the sping and the spine follows the head, and the throat strike cause the head to whip back to get away from it, resulting in the entire spining moving in that direction, ahead of the feet. Once that happens it is necessary to shuffle the feet in that manner to keep from toppling over.
No it's the O'Neill Seminar
