Yeah, it almost seemed like a blatant attempt by Castellanos to create something that wasn't there at all.

I think Obama thoroughly kicked Ed Henry's ass in the question, and I think a lot of people agree with me. I think the people who don't agree are the same old whiners from the right, who will just never accept any answer Obama gives them. If Obama really did cut the deficit in half by the end of his firt term these guys would still say "Oh, he's doing really dangerous, stupid things"

Clearly, Dems will lose the Congress and possibly the Senate. Then Obama has only two choices: run to the center like Clinton and BARELY squeak out reelection, while angering his base... or stay to the left and become a one-term failure like Carter. Because let's be honest, Clinton ONLY squeaked by in re-election because he listened to more reasonable people like Newt Gingrich, Bob Dole, Dick Morris, and Alan Greenspan. Dems are always one-termers unless they listen to Republicans (aka adults)

Alex Castellanos, you have made an illogical comment. In fact, he did not "dodge the question." Taking time to think about what you say before you speak is a legitimate reason. It is quite evident that Ed Henry did not spend enough time thinking about his question; thus making a fool out of himself. Simple as that. Get back to speculating about the real concerns about America rather than speculating on him being a one termer.

In California they are talking about releasing people who are on drug possession (particularly marijuana) offenses. Which is a good thing given the fact that a rapist can be given parole while some guy who had an ounce of dope is still sleeping in the bunk below him.

I highly advise you to read more history books. As to the house of cards thing, I advise you to read books about economics, the Great Depression, and so on. Thanks.

It IS a house of cards and if Dubia and then Obama had decided NOT to bailout anybody or anything you would see it clearly.

And as for prisons...in California they are talking of closing prisons and releasing tens of thousands of inmates because the conditions are "cruel and unusual" and the state is running out of money.

And 11 of those trillions and half the stock market's value have disappeared.  If Obama sneezes it could get a LOT worse. It is a house of cards.

If we lived in a world that was a "house of cards," the internet would not be working as bank after bank would have become insolvent and utilities companies packed it up and shut down. Prisons would close and convicts would be raping your children. So no, we don't exactly live in a world that is a "house of cards." We live in a world with trillions of dollars in liquidity. Despite recent corruption, the global financial system will endure. It will take time, but we've weathered far worse.

No but THEY may fall apart because of the US. We live in a world that is a house of cards. China was, is and will be a world apart from our western civilization. Wisely they are grabbing all they like and can use of it but they are not different from what they were.

China was called All Under Heaven by the Chinese. They still think so. It is not so much that they want to conquer the world as that they want to have a large degree of control over it. But if things get really bad...

I'm saying that even though they have a whole lot of problems that's a far stretch from saying they are going to conquer half of Asia. Malthusian appraisals of our "enemies" are usually wrong. And historical comparisons to empires past simply do not apply now. All nations have a vested interested in keeping G20 economies afloat. If China fell apart, so would the United States. Do you think we're just going to fall apart because of China?
