From: http://www.youtube.com/user/MzHellfyre Are there any self massage techniques for bruxism? I have alot of tension and often pain and soreness from the teeth grinding. Seeing a massage therapist is not an option for me right now, so I was hoping there was something I could do on my own, to relieve some of that tension in the jaw/neck/head area, that comes from the grinding. I could really use any bit of help. :)

  • I'd like to add a technique we learned at our massage school. The tension in the masseters from grinding can be terrible. This muscles is the strongest of all in the human body. Elongation and stretching is very helpful, unless this happens to trigger a migraine headache so be careful. Sit at a table with your elbows resting on top of the table. Place the heels of both hand upon the bump of your chin and stretch, hold, stretch more, hold, rest and repeat as needed. This is effective too!

  • Great advice!

  • Massage therapy IN the mouth?! Wow. Just when I thought I'd seen it all. Very informative....and kinda funny. Thanks!

  • Most of my students freak out when I tell them we are going to massage each others mouths, but I usually have at least one student per class that has jaw problems and everyone is a believer after that student says it helped :)

  • I experience tinnitis in right ear only when I lay in a horizontal position. Could this be a result of my tmj problem? Are there any exercises I could do to get rid of the tinnitis problem?

  • I experience tinnitis in right ear only when I lay in a horizontal position. Could this be a result of my tmj problem? (I've also had whiplast injuries to my neck (car accidents/falls), which I believe caused the tmj problem).
