Portland Harbour Vision

The Northwest Corner of Portland harbour is the ideal location for a new, all-inclusive marina facility catering to professional & recreational fishers, visitors and locals alike.

Portland fishers, with the support of the broader community, have for over ten years now been battling to right the inequities forced upon them by the privatisation of the Port of Portland.

This short video seeks to highlight just some of the broad range of issues currently confronting the stakeholders in this debate and to inform the public, media & politicians of a way forward which would be of significant benefit to Portland and the region.

Local, State & Commonwealth governments are urged to rapidly step up, facilitate an equitable arrangement with the Port of Portland Pty. Ltd. and the stakeholders regarding the existing fishermens' & trawl wharves and then provide funding and support for both the trawlwharf remedial works and the urgently needed NW Corner development.

With a new purpose built facility, the community would have a precinct which could be used for a wide range of commercial and recreational activities as well as focusing on what is probably the greatest asset of the town - the sheltered waters of Portland's historic foreshore.

Talk to friends and neighbours, local councillors, state and federal members and urge they support this proposal so the future amenity of the Portland foreshore and harbour can be assured for many years to come.

I agree, I used to spend alot of time on the wharf when I was younger but now you are not allowed on it, the Corkscrew has been falling down since the late 80s.

I grew up in Portland, it's the most talent stifling city in the world, mostly due to not be run correctly or at all by the local council. It's only gone backwards since I grew up too

Good things come to those who deserve it & portland deserves all that it gets. I was born in that place 40 years ago & in that time it has not gone to far forward. to many ppl on the council who awned shops aswell, & those are the ppl who made portland into the poxy shit hole that it is. Mcdonalds & Kmart & other large
