  • Those were different approaches to the same song....and in this case Wayne took the song to a level where Fagen & Becker were not so comfortable with, that´s why JH kept the job...IMHO

  • @emgcarra I totally agree with this. You hit it on the head....

  • krantz is quite a bit more...adventurous i suppose, but i still like listening to JH just fine. becker is also good but i think he overplays/noodles a little sometimes.

  • Well put.

  • Green Earrings- Steely Dan live! 12 August 2006. (8/18)

look this up this case and point proves jon herington is better, especially when he trades fours with becker at the end!!

  • I am going to respectfully disagree. I think Jon is really good. But I don't think this particular solo is anything magical. But that's cool...music hits everyone differently.

  • Ok, I love this song, this band, and everything that they do. But can I just ask what the hell is Walter doing doing the first 2 minutes??? Love it... just had to ask....

  • no flie s on me

  • Wayne was brilliant even back then. Cool

  • @didyouseethatlight not nervous! I think, especially in the outro soloing, we see the energies of a man who's about to launch on the great improv trios with Carlock and LeFebvre. It's impressive that he finds a way to be generally true to his own musical ideology while playing a Green Earrings solo. Beasley is a good match here too, lots of "out" notes and free spirited jazzy playing. Krantz "My Old School" encore solos were an Art Crimes high point.

  • i found the tabs on the this site: axemagazine.it

  • Walter - stop soloing over the second verse!!!

  • @spinningrooves Yeah I could see Becker and Fagen saying something like it isn't 'tasteful enough' or doesn't 'fit the song', thanks for posting this, Krantz is absolutely terrifying.

  • Wayne has such a unique picking approach. I love it.

  • Wayne is just out there...you never know what to expect...and that is what's so damn beautiful about the guy.

  • wayne krantz tears it up on this
