My very first turkey a Montana Merriam

I just started turkey hunting two seasons ago, this is the first season, my second hunt and my first bird. I was hunting with a Montana outfitter and we had to work our but off to get this bird on the last day of the hunt.

where in montana was that? i jsut hunted in ashland and we herd 1 bird gobble and after that they were all gone not another gobble. it rained and snowed the whole weekend.

It can be tough in MT because of the weather and Merriam's are not the most vocal.

I hunted with one of my outfitters about 60 miles from Billings. I will be happy to email you information on his operation, we also hunt Mule Deer and Whitetail with him.

Nice shot! I want to Grand Slam before I'm 40 and these Birds are said to be one of the hardest to pop.....Good Job.

3 Day hunt, and worked my butt off in the high country on the last day, but tagged a great 23 lb-8in beard-2xinch spurs. It was a hunt of a life time, was hunting at Powder River Outfitters.
