http://CoastGuardNews.com HONOLULU -- Coast Guard rescue crews aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter medically evacuate an ill crewmember from a container ship approximately 69 miles north of Oahu, Sept. 21, 2011. Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu rescue coordinators were contacted by the captain of the motor vessel MSC Beijing, a 1,016-foot container ship, reporting a 38-year old male aboard was experiencing severe stomach pain. They also reported they had no medical care system aboard. At the time of the report, the MSC Beijing was approximately 828 miles north of Oahu. The Dolphin and an HC-130 Hercules airplane launched from Air Station Barbers Point to assist in the medical evacuation. The helicopter crew safely hoisted the patient via stokes litter while the Hercules provided additional communications assistance. The Dolphin returned to Air Station Barbers Point where the patient was transferred to emergency medical services and transported to Queen's Medical Center for further treatment.
