The Shores Of The Forth' - an improved audio version of this great song paying homage to the heyday of the herring fishing. This song was composed by Matt Armour from Anstruther in Fife, and it is sung here with Davey Stewart and backed by the Beggar's Mantle Ceilidh Band. The second tune is 'Fisher's Hornpipe.' 'The Shores Of The Forth' has now been newly released by Springthyme Records on a digitally remastered CD. [Springthyme SPRCD 1002] c p 2010 Springthyme Records • Springthyme Music www.springthyme.co.uk and the song appears here courtesy its proprietor Peter Shepheard who also recorded the original LP for John and Davey.

  • John Watt passed away today, 31st October 2011.

  • @onyirtodd I'm sorry to hear that.

  • Now that's an area with which I'm familiar! Sadly, it's been many a year since the Forth saw that volume of traffic.

    Thanks for posting this video.

  • @pastore0506 Hi George. The first few photos are of Pittenweem harbour. I had a wee look on streetview and there were a few boats but nothing to compare with the old days of course .

  • A great talent. Sad indeed.

  • I'm a Moray loon myself, long on a foreign strand now, but once fished off Dunbar, the Bass and the May from AH122 Avail, of blessed memory!

  • Great song, great photos. Thanks for sharing

  • I grew up in Pittenweem in the 70's and 80's - a mile from Anster (went to the Waid Academy in Aster). That's Pittenweem harbour alright. I used to listen to Beggars Mantle drinking underage when they played in the Queens Hotel in Elie (another East Neuk village and hotel now sadly closed). Like yesterday - wow!
