@Digideus No, not really; my tastes tend toward the European style of this genre of music. In death metal, most of my favorites weren't American at all: Grave, Entombed/Dismember/Carnage, Carcass, Benediction. The same goes for punk because I remain a huge Discharge, Exploited, GBH, and UK Subs fan. And I still love old Pitchshifter, too.

I loathe Linkin Park and Disturbed both. Godsmack is okay; I have their first album and it's decent. Metal? I wouldn't consider it metal the same way I'd consider Judas Priest metal because it's too grungey. The rap/metal and nu-metal things have long since run their course. I'd have to say that Disturbed is the single most predictable and unoriginal band on planet earth right now. As yet undiscovered tribes in Africa know what they're gonna do before they do it.

European metal is far heavier and bands like Godsmack practically have no exposure over here anyway. we have a totally different view of whats metal and what isnt. perhaps thats the problem here. our view points of metal are totally different and while Europeans think godsmack is a bunch of pansies who play music like linkin park and disturbed, which european metal fans cant stand for the most part. So, agree to disagree?

@Digideus That's not the reason, but again, now having heard this a number of times, I think they sound infinitely like a AIC ripoff much more than Godsmack.

And as I already stated, their two albums sound, from what I recall, very different.
