There are sometimes i feel that I can relate the most to Nina, not as a ballet dancer, but as an artist in general. It's so competitive out there and for some of us, our goal of perfection nearly drives us insane to the near point we turn into a black swan and start committing self-destructive behaviors.
At times, I don't think I'll truly be happy with anything I create until I've gone off the deep end. When I do, though, I want to have blood-red eyes and black wings like Nina.

Her arms turning into black wings is a PERFECT metaphor for her transformation. I also like how the dancers around her seem to freeze. It's like the world around her vanishes. All that exists (in her mind) is her and her rise to fame.
