@VirgilHilts1944 McQueen was so good in the Getaway I'm surprised they even had the nerve to remake that movie.

@MrNew1world I'm not an expert, but a big admirer. I think he was searching for validation in a way, which is why he could be difficult when making a movie, or demand so much money. He was trying to prove himself. His parents both abandoned him, and I think he held even more anger towards his mother, which is why he was known to hit women on occasion. However, he was a loving father, and adored kids. He was a very complex man, and it's amazing how he continues to fascinate so many of us.

Back in the early 1950s, when they were both in NYC and taking classes at the Actors Studio, James Dean joked that Steve McQueen was his "shadow." Why? Because McQueen had a tendency to follow Dean around a lot. (Interestingly Dean imitated Brando's acting style so much that at a Hollywood party, Brando told Dean to stop imitating and start doing his own thing.)

@romeodiscos dean tried to mumble like his hero...but Brando did it best.

Great escape was great movie much better than that stupid Giant movie made by a drunken idiot named james dean lol they nominated him because he wrecked nice car and died lol
-
@elstroshitnonstop well james dean was the BIGGEST IDIOT LOL HE WRECKED a beautiful car just like Alec Guiness said he would and he screwed up his last acting role lol Giant ,. At the end of the film, Dean was supposed to make a drunken speech at a banquet; this is nicknamed the 'Last Supper' because it was the last scene before his sudden death. Dean mumbled so much that the scene had to later be re-recorded by his co-stars because Dean had died before the film was edited. great actor lol

Steve McQueen and Clint Eastwood are the best.
-
@romeodiscos shut up idiot, steve mcqueen didnt touch a fraction of james deans ability as an actor in his lifetime. steve mcqueen looked great, but had very little ability as an actor, no ability to show emotion. he could never live up to james dean

Steve McQueen = Legend. His movies were and are the best of all time EVER! Including my best movie of all time "The Great Escape" (1963) with Steve McQueen.
