Interesting local news broadcast about a new vertical launch aircraft...
SAN DIEGO, Calif. The Marines at MCAS Miramar will soon have some new planes to fly.
The aging F/A-18 Hornets will be replaced with Joint Strike Fighters.
The Navy has announced 6 squadrons are coming to San Diego starting in 2012 (after mid-summer) - eventually numbering close to a hundred (96).
The F/A 18 Hornet, which is commonly seen over the skies of San Diego, is planned to be slowly be phased out, (around 2017) by the military for the F-35B fighter jet.

This is my very favourite aircraft of all time. My ambition is to fly in one, if only for a 30 second lift-off and landing. British brilliance at it's best.
