This is the third Movement of the second Symphony of Sibelius.
The third movement and the forth are joined (there is no pause between them), thats why this video ends the way it does.

  • Yes of course it is Celibidache. I heard him grunt!

  • Sounds like it's being played at 45rpm...way too fast. Check out the 1970 version by Okko Kamu conducting the Berlin Philharmonic.

  • Ouch, the legato oboe theme needs some rubato! Lovely piece though.
