Belated Merry Christmas everybody! I recently completed this French Overture for 5 violins which will be performed in a concert at school in late February. I've been composing it since late October. The main challenge for this piece was to write convincingly with the range constraints of the violin, and to distribute material evenly between the parts so that each part has melodic interest and carries the "bass" line at some point. I realise that I'd be able to utilise the open G string more effectively if I'd written the piece in C minor but it would have been a little more awkward to play in that key. I have no dynamics currently but I plan to experiment with them in rehearsal. I hope you enjoy listening to it, and Happy New Year!

What a pleasant surprise to hear you have composed a new work! I was anticipating your next piece since your last Sinfonia in G-sharp minor. It was a bit unusual to hear 5 violins, but very interesting to see how you stretch the limits of the violin range. The pedal tones were effectively utilized and musically supportive. I thought the triplet rhythm was a bit reminiscent of Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 4. Would have liked to see more contrapuntal development, but in all a solid work. Congrats!

@zeryx28 thank you so much! I would have added more contrapuntal development but I was limited by time constraints. I had to finish the piece before the end of the year and it had to be under 5 mins too (seeing as the tempi are fairly brisk anyway we may have to leave the second repeat and play the piece slower in performance). I appreciate your feedback as always!
