is that a gyrfalcon?

Flying birds to the lure is not falconry. Falconry is hunting with birds of prey not keeping them as pets. Post a video of you actually practising Falconry and then maybe you can say you are A falconer but you will still never be THE falconer.

Nice video. These birds are beautiful creatures, and i enjoy watching them. How long have you been doing this, and what part of the world is this video filmed in?

hi i would like 2 know....how much & how many times a falcon's & eagles can eat per day?

@nuffy2921 Peregrine is a protected sp. 2 get 1 u need a master license (requires a few years exp) If u want 2 persue U start w/ your apprentice license and a sponsor to train u. After a few years u can take a test 2 obtain master license. They allow quite a few different sp. of hawks and owls w/ apprentice license you need a masters 4 peregrines, eagles, and a few other sp. Harris hawk is an excellent novice sp. very social and forgiving of error americanfalconry . com 4 more info.

hello all, i have a question. would a harris hawk go for a chicken? because i have some and i am also dying to get a bird. dont know weather to wait until we dont have chickens anymore or see if you can train it to leave them alone? thankyou

Yes it will go after them and no you can not train it not to.

I suppose that could work.. I once raised a hybrid falcon with a chinese duck and they got along well. Even to go as far as sharing food. When I gave the falcon a Pigeon that had seed in it's crop, the falcon would eat the meat and the duck would eat the seed. However that was at a young age. I got rid of the hybrid before it was trained to hunt, things may have changed then.

yeah, i plan to get my bird maybe about 2 weeks old, is that too old?
fishpimp100 2 years ago
Depending on what kind of bird, but typically you will want to get a bird from 2 to 10 days old. I would not take a bird two weeks old, best way to judge is when you peak your head over the nest, if the bird shows any sign of fear like spreading its wings or raising up or making noise, it's to late. But if your going to imprint a bird, find someone who has successfully imprinted that species and talk to them about what to do and not to do and what to do.
