FRONTAL OFFSET TEST

OVERALL EVALUATION: Poor
Structure/safety cage Injury measures Restraints/dummy kinematics
Head/neck Chest Leg/foot, left Leg/foot, right
Poor Poor Good Good Acceptable Poor

Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Jimmy were redesigned for the 1995 model year, the Oldsmobile Bravada was redesigned for 1996, and the GMC Envoy was introduced in 1998.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement wasn't well controlled. As the dummy moved into the airbag, its torso rolled off the bag toward the driver door. Its head hit the window sill, denting it, then hit the B-pillar. Also, there was too much upward movement of the steering column.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the chest and left leg indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on the head when the dummy moved forward into the airbag indicate that injuries to the head would be possible. A high head acceleration occurred when the dummy's head hit the window sill/B-pillar, indicating that further injuries to the head would be possible. Forces on the right tibia and acceleration on the right foot indicate that injuries to the lower leg and foot would be possible.

I can't believe 8 people gave you a thumbs-up. The cars are crashed into a "Deformable aluminum barrier" that accurately simulates the crumple zone of another car. If you compare a frontal offset test of a car hitting one of these, with two cars of the same mass hitting eachother, the car will behave the same in either case.

    Thumbs down to you.

  • Holy fuck im done for i dont wanna get in a wreck now.

  • I ment or drive this car

  • No do not by it drive this car. We lost a friend in an accident in one of these. The gas tank is in the back of the car, and if u get rear ended ur gonna end up just like Doug. He burned alive in his car. Fuckin drunk drivers. Rip Doug workman

  • I'd rather be in a smart car.

  • Actually, the windshield is stronger than the entirely car!

  • I (2000 blazer) got into a head on with a CRV; i was going 35 the other car was going probably 40. Anyways, we both walked away fine from the crash. Even though the CRVs structure held up a little better, the Blazer is a Body on Frame construction, the frame really did a work on the CRV which honestly i think kept me safe. In a real world crash I ended up fine, maybe I was lucky, but I think because my car had a frame and the other didnt, i had a slight advantage.

  • Atleast SUV`S have improved from then. I wonder how many of these got into wrecks....

  • shit that's scary

  • @jwmckin08 oh......... good

  • @fordruleskiasux no, you are wrong, Ford doesn't just beat toyota and honda... THEY COMPLETELY FUCK THEM! HAHAHA

  • the Trailblazer the fullsize blazer from 1980s to 1994 and the S10 Blazer of the 80s are much safer than the 92 through 2005 blazer
