Really like this but for me this duet with Simionato from Scala 1955 is the best ever, can listen it again and again !!!

I agree with all..this Norma is one of the moment of Callas...I also heard Norma for the first time in this version,and for me Norma is Callas!!!!!!

Interesting, I think Callas is more stunning in the 1960 version. She sounds more feminine there, she has matured. A few strident notes even give more dramatic impression there - par example "cosi trovava", sang here between 2:47-54

I love how she sings ''io fui cosi'' in the beginning and can keep listening to just that particular frase.
Anyway, this was the first Norma I ever heard and it really made me fall in love with Maria Callas.
Stignani is great too, such a sweet sounding voice.

I'm agree, it's so beautifully worded. In my opinion, this recording of Norma contains some of the greatest moments Callas ever recorded.

Callas' voice was at the peak of its powers here; she of course was one of the most expressive artists who ever lived, and a great musician who pronounced the text better than anyone. How marvelous to have this snippet; many thanks for uploading it. May we hope for more from this 1954 recording?
