On my options from the Show Advanced Options page next to Background Image, I don't see the Delete button. All I see is the text "Upload an image that will display as a background on your channel (maximum 256K)." I used to have an image before, but it just disappeared when I tried to create a new theme. I don't even see an "Upload" image button.
