Chase were bleeding money, the coach operation was sold off first, followed by the subsequent sale to Arriva. They would have gone pop if they had not sold out!

I suppose Chase was gradually squeezed out by Arriva, thus forcing them to eventually surrender. How many routes did Chase operate in the end? I suppose eventually, maybe twenty years from now, all the little bus companies would have been absorbed into the likes of First, Stagecoach and Arriva etc, therefore essentially creating a triopoly or there abouts.

This bus brings back happy memories of my early bus driving days - November 1988 - with Harrow Buses, latterly Metroline Travel Limited in Harrow, Middlesex. Many of them ahd both front and rear doors. I'd love to know where any of these buses, original fleet numbers LS220-LS268, are still in active service. Even better, if anyone knows where I might get the chance to drive one again!! Still hold my full PSV licence!!

Why was this National withdrawn from service.
I do miss these mk one Nationals. Nothing will ever replace these. Modern buses are awful.

This went when the company was taken over by Arriiva, it is now with Helms of Eastham on the Wirral.
