James Kalm visits the Lafayette House, a loft on the Bowery and a newly painted mural on Houston and the Bowery as well as the memorial exhibition at Deitch Projects in and attempt to document some of the important final locations in the short life of Dash Snow. Since the 2007 cover story in New York Magazine that launched him to the pinnacle of bohemian chic, Dash snow was seen as an avatar of hip. Long standing drug and alcohol problems and a tumultuous family life (Snow was the scion of the incredibly wealthy de Menil family) no doubt added to the stress that contributed to this tragic loss.

  • Even though I'm two years late, thank a lot for shooting the Memorial exhibition, James. You captured it nicely.

One question: Which video of yours is the one at the end, in which you capture Dash greeting people at a gallery? I'm curious.

  • i can definitely tell dash snow likes Satan... he's got the triple skulls and a devil tattoos

  • @caliclips wooooow

  • The house at 2:18 was about to be torn down so some friends and i went to the roof and saw the sace memorial mural.

  • its sad thta ppl think this iis art!!!

  • That there is rich kid, white boy art. I suppose you can have the so called "fuck it" attitude when you got money behind ya. That kind of life don't really count as "risky" in my oponion. There's a lot young people in my neigbourhood doing this shit, living a tough drugged out life proper but without the money and social standing of this unfortunate young man. It aint glamourous, it's sad.

  • another ending just like- a quick killing in art.

  • beautifully done jameskalm. I love the transparent depth you when shooting into a reflective surface. Your memorial was Best of Show

  • Good-night, sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest

  • THANX!
