that woman is comedienne Totie Fields who by chance happens to be Jewish. the joke is: she recognizes Gene as being Jewish even while he is wearing face paint because of his Jewish nose (his hook). she starts the joke by saying "wouldn't it be funny if under this he was just a nice Jewish boy?" (which any fan of KISS can tell u that he is) and ends with the "hook" comment while Gene makes that funny face

I'm 45 now, and looking back, there were some people who tried to out him as a normal guy who never did drugs or even got drunk, totally opposite from his band mates. Gene even had a four year degree.

Offhand, the CHiPs episode with Moloch (Donny Most) is an example of a subtle attempt to expose Gene.
