The Huckleberry Railroad old antique steam train passes the railroad crossing at the corner of Stanley and Genesee Roads in Genesee, MI. Sorry for the long intro; I saw the locomotive's headlight coming towards me just as I was driving into town from the opposite direction, and I thought the train was getting close, so I immediately started taping just as I got out of my truck. I guess it wasn't as close as I expected it to be. The train approaches the town and the engineer blows the whistle at 1:57, and the warning devices activate at around 2:00. I also apologize for the shaking towards the end.

This video was taken with my new Canon PowerShot SX120 IS.

  • Man, as low as that gate sits on the side you were filming on before it activated, you'd think a truck would hit it. Might want to move the wires that the gate nearly rests on so it can go all the way up. Someone should complain about that.

  • @PereMarquette1223 That has been an issue for a long time now. It has not been addressed...yet. :(

  • "approaches the town and the conductor blows the whistle"

Conductors don't drive trains, Engineers do.

  • Thanks, I didn't know.

  • @MichRRconductor My father, a locomotive engineer who ran steam engines, used to correct my mother at least once a week when she would tell some one that he drove engines. "Engineers don't drive trains... they run engines." :-)

  • That is pretty cool video. My aunt live about 3-4 miles south of that crossing. I know this one pretty well!!

  • Just a minor correction, 464 was bought to run at Knotts while the C-19's were out of service for rebuilds. When they went back in-service she was sold to Huck. The only engine Knotts got after 464 left is the Davenport Forney.

  • Well if you would like to know the engine is Denver Rio Grande Western 464 build in 1903 by the Baldwin Locomotvie works in Philly. The engine ran in the south western park of Colorado up untill the 50s when it was bought Knotts Berry Farm while it was being stored in Durango Colorado. It was to big for Knotts so after they bought to smaller ones, the engine was sold to the Huckleberry Railroad. it is also one of the 2 surviving K-27 type engines the Denver Rio Grande had.
