Three of my students (Chun Wang, Checkie Chu, and Eric Engelhardt) have modified a Robodyssey Roach robot for the International Firefighting Competition at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. They call their robot Flash. This is the first time weve entered a walking robot. Here, the guys are testing the maze navigation algorithm for the first time.
Robodyssey Systems manufactures the Roach robot and RAMB II motherboard you see here. The robots brain is NetMedias BX-24 microcontroller, which is programmed using the BasicX language. I am the author of the worlds only BasicX textbook; if you are interested in learning how to program your own robot, see my website at www.basicxandrobotics.com.
This, is pretty cool. Is this for a highschool or college class? What year are they in? It is very impressive. Did they make the walking robot or did it come as a kit? I am interested in possibly purchasing a few of those micro controllers if the robot is a full kit.
