I agree with you. I have the same problem with the same external HDD you got. Mine keeps spinning and it annoys me. Hey, do you know if our HDD can get its dock removed?

  • I just recently bought the 1TB USB 3.0 version. I really like it. What I don't like about it, is that, it won't power down. It will keep spinning and spinning and get very hot. I plugged mine into the power source but didn't plug the USB cable to my laptop and left my house for an hour. When I got home, the drive was hot and was still spinning. I've never had this problem with my WD Elements.

  • I just got this today :)

  • This thing sucked... 50megs a second on usb 3.0 thats barely faster than 2.0 at 29 megs a second. Plus it's a monster... why get the desk model.. get the portable.

  • So here's something I discovered today about the USB 3.0 connector. Today I bought a Transcend USB 3.0 Portable 500GB HDD. I was doing some tests to it and some cable comparison. If you look at the input of the HDD you can see two connections. One is a Micro USB 2.0 connector and the other one is for the USB 3.0. So I connected my phone's Micro USB cable to the HDD and it fitted in the bigger connector, then I went to my computer and got it connected tu my USB 2.0 port and guess what It worked.

  • Don't buy this model. They are lemons.
