Mia was a "child prodigy" in badminton with amazing flexibility when she was young. However, though she remained a top level player until she retired, she never quite captured badminton's biggest titles for individual players (losing twice in the Olympic finals for example). Part of the reason, at least, was that she put on lot of weight as she grew out of her teens. She still moved extremely well considering this but it had to effect her flexibility and stamina.
