The 2009 North Pole Marathon, also known as the world's coolest marathon, had temperatures of -37C on race day. Evgeniy Gorkov of Russia won the men's race and Pushpa Chandra of Canada was the first female finisher. The event takes place each year at a drifting Russian ice camp at the Geographic North Pole.
