I call this cat food Many popular brands of cat food are made from what would otherwise be waste products of the meat industry. Some cat experts claim that this practice, as well as the overly processed nature of dry cat food, is responsible for many of the age-related ailments of cats. Additionally, many major brand-name cat foods are primarily grain-based, often containing large amounts of corn or rice supplemented with meats and essential vitamins, and often saturated with 'animal digest,' a highly processed flavoring ingredient containing meat from numerous unspecified animals. Some less well-known pet food manufacturers offer more 'natural' formulas of cat food that contain fewer grains and by-products. A few pet food brands, such as Innova EVO, are even made without any grain products at all. Natural cat food brands are often claimed to have cuts of meat closer to those that humans eat, with some manufacturers offering meat that is claimed to be 'human grade'. Many brands of such cat foods are made from raw ingredients intended to provide nutrition as close as possible to the cat's natural diet. These brands generally include raw meat with organs, ground bone, some raw vegetables, and some dietary supplements

  • My, my. Aren't we a graduate from Harvard?

  • Fancy Feast is crap, it's like eating McDonalds. Innova light is best for a diabetic cat. The EVO is even better.

  • Donot feed your cats commercial products, they will only lead to bad health, raw meat diet is the most healthy and I haven't meet s cat that doesn't like it!

  • Just buy raw meat, organs, and use supplements to feed your cats. Don't use any prepackaged bullshit. However supplements are necessary since you want to make sure that your cat at least get enough taurine.

  • Green packages of pet food, pictures of buffalo or deer on the bag, the word "Natural" on the container, images of carrots or chicken don't matter. It the ingredients say "No meat-by products", it doesn't matter. Celebrity endorsements, or a cat food commercial with cats running in a garden to the food bowl, none of that matters either. If it's not raw, it wrong. Period. End of story.

  • Do lions grow corn or wheat to mix with their zebra ? No. Any amount of carbs for cats is wrong. Whoever believes cats need carbs don't think for themselves and believe whatever fancy jingle, promo, or commercial from pet food companies that sell that garbage tell them to believe. Pet food companies that sell processed/dry/canned pet food will tell you anything to sell their product.

  • @dogsarebetter Wild cats do not get diabetes because they don't eat whatever crap food you gave to your cat that caused the diabetes. Fancy Feast is not the answer for a cure/ prevention/treatment of diabetes, even if it is less than 10 percent carbs. Cats do not need and should not have carbs. Cats get energy that is synthesized by their bodies from protein and fat, not carbs. Have you ever seen a nature show showing wild cats eating grain? I didn't think so.

  • For anyone to say that processed/cooked/canned/ dry food is the correct diet for domestic cats is the same as saying that wild cats that fend for and feed themselves are eating the wrong diet. And since wild cats are not eating the wrong diet, then the inverse is also true. Any diet other than raw meat/organ/bone/prey-based for domestic cats is also wrong.

  • Fancy Feast, Innova, Evo, and ANY other cat food that is grain-based/cooked/canned/ dry is crap also simply because those are not raw and is not what cats would eat in the wild or even remotely close to what they would eat in the wild.

  • A few times a week also feed chicken wings or drummetts, turkey necks, beef hearts, chicken or turkey gizzards and hearts. Those are also excellent to feed as their provide real, whole food nutrition and satisfy a cat's desire to chew and it keeps their teeth clean, white and strong and their jaws strong, which is important to prevent their teeth falling out when they get older.

  • This food is the wrong diet for cats because it is cooked. The only correct diet for all cats, wild or domestic, large, small, whatever breed or species, is a raw meat based diet that contains raws ground bone, muscle meat, organs, etc. Nature's Variety is just one example of an excellent raw diets for cats. Check their website and read the ingredients.
