@apsert  i think he means that gold, silver etc are natural materials and currency is man made, the value is determined by man and as such could potentially end up with no value what so ever where as gold, silver etc are always going to be a desired material which will always hold value and always be a form of currency. i could be wrong tho but i dont think he meant it literally

@etyrnal Grab 10oz of gold from some you purchaced in 1980 and grab a dollar bill you've had under your mattress from 1980, Which has lost it's value and which has gained - It's a false dichotomy, only the moneies values have changed against the commodity (gold) 10oz of gold still purchaces the same amount of oil and other things as it did in 1980- can you say the same for the dollar? Things intrinsic value don't go up only the power of the dollar declines.
