Also, VIA P42's and GO Transit units have K5LA's because they came standard with 'em.

I think I can answer your question - pretty much 95% of the newer engines ordered by Canadian railways in recent years come factory-equipped with K5HL's and K5LLA's - the HL for GE units and LLA for EMD's. A majority of Canadian power uses the K3L, the standard 3-chime horn, because that was mandatory for Canadian units until a couple of years ago IIRC.

Question. Howcome Canadian freight trains never have k5la's on them, while GO Transit does? All CP and CN engines ive seen use either a k5h or k5lla. Im an American, so im used to hearing k5la's on freight trains. Please reply.

the track coming out of the VIA yard must be in really bad shape seeing that the VIA and GO locomotives were rocking crazy while going over it
