    Thanks for viewing the video and your comments. It takes about 10 miles (before the two waters mix). Note, the black river is not dirty water. It's "black" due to high alkalinity (warm water with foliage release chemicals into the water -- like when we make tea -- thus bringing the alkaline to a high level. The yellow water (Salimoes river -- amazones) is yellow, it also carries some mineral like any other river but the water temperatures are much lower than that of the black riv

    The point where this video was taken is just outside MANAUS. From one side of the river to the other side is so wide it's hard to see the other side (land). Big cruise boats and huge super cargo boats transit in these waters.
