Course if I tell my family that we need to be doing this, I'm the nutty one.

That fact that so many people are preparing is a pretty good indication of what the future holds. Nobody has any confidence in our incompetent government to pull us out of this downward spiral. The world seems nuttier with each passing day. I think you are foolish not to prepare.
