My mother tongue is actually German,
but I speak English like an American does, so you won't hear that I'm from Germany.
I learnt Danish from a half danish friend, he taught me the bascis and I tried to learn the rest on my own, and soon I've found out how similiar it is to (Bokmål) Norwegian, and then I read that the bokmaal norsk is actually danish, just pronounced the norwegian way, and the orginial norsk is the nynorsk..I am really into Languages and the way they have been originated..

Respect Týr because they honour their traditions and folklore.
-
@Huldumavur The Edge, Dreams, Eric the Red, God of War, Rainbow Warrior, Alive, Hail to the Hammer... And that's all off one album.
-
@Huldumavur Hold the Heathen Hammer High, Shadow of the Swastika and so on...; ok: not faroese songs, but written on their own. The Band "Heljareyga" of Heri Joensen (singer "Týr") is playing own songs in faroese language I think.
Cheers from Germany

@Huldumavur One example? How about the following... "Hail to the Hammer" "Excavation" "The Rune" "Ten Wild Dogs" "God of War" "Sand in the Wind" "How Far to Asgaard" "The Edg "e" "Dreams" "Rainbow Warrior" "Alive" "Eric the Red" "Hold the Heathen Hammer High" "Northern Gate" "Hear the Heathen Call" and "Shadow of the Swastika"... that's excluding songs they've written the lyrics for but used traditional Faroese melodies. :)

@Huldumavur Sand in the Wind.

Hail to the Hammer, By the Light of the Northern Star, etc,.

If they are Scottish, then the accent is terrible! I like Tyr and Valravn versions more
-
Agreed. Been trying to self-teach it the best I can, with the help of books and audio-CDs, but it's hard on your own.
-
Faroese-one of the most beautiful languages in the world.. =.-)

@Huldumavur As far as I know, The Edge, Hail to the Hammer, Northern Gate, Hold the Heathen Hammer High, Dreams, Eric the Red and several others are original.
I hate to sound like such an ignorant wanker, but this sounds just like Tyr. I suspect they used this song.

Yes they do. I don't think Tyr does any song of their own.

@Huldumavur Actually, tyr write many of their own songs. However, there are often a lot of influences from traditional tunes in such songs.

Really? Give me one example of a song they have written themselves.
