Just Music. The Toronto Symphony Orchestra performs "Mars, The Bringer of War" (in 2 parts) from "The Planets" by Gustav Holst, under the direction of Sir Ernest MacMillan, in these recordings from 1942, which were taken off of 78 RPM records.

@peesyweesy I agree with peesyweesy. Some composers choose to play it at that speed without being forced to squeeze it on to a 78. I played it last year at a very similar tempo, if not the very same.

This song is SO FUCKEN HARD to keep the timing on... i know i'm a retard, but i find it EXTREMELY hard to keep the 5/4 time... idk i guess im just special

Lol. I think they had to make it quite fast because it was recorded to be played on 78s. Thanks for the comment.

@GreekCallas Actually the speed sounds correct compared to other performances on lp and cd that I've heard. This sounds really nice!

@peesyweesy Let me clarify; it was performed at this tempo so it could fit on a the A and B side of a 10" 78.
