  • A great observational/musical comedy.

    Well done Mr. Okin.

    A big fan of yours.

    Cheers,

    Paul

  • He was Polish as well.

  • I'm hoping to be in Oz next March/April/May and am waiting for David Hawkins of Sydney to give me a yes/no. I opened the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2010 and had a great time there. How to get booked back, however, I have no idea. They have Kate Ceberano as the director now and she probably doesn't know what I do. Earl. spats47@ntlworld.com

  • Earl pleeeeeease come to one of the Adelaide Fringe or Caberet festivals sometime!

  • I agree completely, but this comedy song is about how the standard of French songs has fallen. Songs that Piaf sang...wonderful! Georges Brassens, on the other hand...well, its all about words and great songs should be about MUSIC. So...BORING! The same thing seems to have happened in Italy, Russia and so on. Even Brazil no longer offers what it offered in the period of Bossa Nova.

  • I can tell you that even in my culture, which is Chinese, a civilization with more than 5000 years and myriads of artistical achievements, people are now forgeting the art of their ancesters that have been perfected for thousands of years and are blindly following American culture. Not that I have anything against American culture, it's just not everyone has to be the same. So people should stop blindly following other cultures. If you agree give me a thumbs up

  • No idea

  • I am a huge fan of French Chansons, and am absolutely in love with singers like Edith Piaf, Juliette Greco, Jacques Brel, Francoise Hardy... the list goes on and on. I think I can contribute some perspectives to this discussion. It is all because of globalization that now music in almost every culture has lost the uniqueness and is becoming more American. I can tell you that even in my culture, which is Chinese, a civilization with more than 5000 years and myriads of artistical achievements,

  • What song is this? Is it composed by Earl himself?

  • I only mention Massenet, Bizet and Gounod. Chopin is never mentioned at all. So, I don't think that I'm the one who is confused... ;-)
