@Ferbbie The Suffragettes were not about equality for all, they were a middle/upper class woman's advocacy group. The World was gender roled for purposes of division of labor and survival. Women suffered but so did men, eg long hours in back breaking jobs and being forced into war.
Historically, oppression based on class far outstrips any based on gender.

@richardsbrandonuca But as far as I know it wasnt only about the vote, it was also about the equality of men and women...you are right, that many men didnt have the vote either, but they were equal almost in every other area, while women for example couldnt get divorced until they proved that they were mistreated by their husbands several times!

@oz1641 actually i'm 14, so i can't vote. however, i have been a committed member of a party since I was 11, i regularly volunteer and i want to go into politics when i am older. of course I've had to fight, everyone has had to fight at some point! they just don't mention it because they know it's the same for everyone. i'm all for women's freedom, which is why although i disagree with many lifestyle choices some people make, i do not look down on them or judge them. and neither should you.

@1uc1nda Are you one of those who doesn't vote?! Have you ever had to fight for anything?! I have. The Suffragettes fought for the freedom of women, what have got against that??

@oz1641 saw you comment on another video while doing research. basically the same obnoxious speech all over again. do u copy and paste into every suffragetter video? simply changing words in a desperate attempt to gain likes or seem intelligent. ur pathetic.

@1Sladman1 Suffrage in the UK in popular discussion has generally been framed as an gender issue, which has some validity. But in reality it's early development was more related to the maintenance of the class structure.
Some of the rules for instance were to stop live servants in Kenisington and Chelsea etc., who out numbered their masters, from voting in socialist MP's.
Also in 1918 Democracy in a modern sense was still young. Sometimes using a 21st century lens distorts.

@richardsbrandonuca That's the main reason why the Labour party didn't go the whole hog behind it because they were for Universal suffrage and if they just supported middle class woman's fight it would just re-enforce the class system which they wanted to destroy.

Women have little to complain about on this issue, men past and present have treated women a lot better than they have themselves. And even as feminism strips away slowly all that we are i still would go to their aid if they were in trouble, that's just me.

@richardsbrandonuca Keep in mind that men had to pay a price for that right to vote as well. They had to work horrible jobs and go to war. Something which the women were not obligated to do.
It is forgotten that many men did not have the vote in the UK either. Some facts:-
Reform Act 1832:- Resulted in 15% males having the vote.
Representation of the People Act 1884:- Increased suffrage but still 40% of males did not have the vote.
Representation of the People Act 1918:- Universal suffrage for males over 21 females over 30.
Representation of the People Act 1928 - Votes for all over 21.
In photos the policemen arresting the suffragettes did not have the vote either.

1 million British men died in WW1 so the idea of Britain still existed, Even more were wounded and damaged for life. None of them could vote and most were forced into Service.
Women handed out White Feathers to shame them into war.
Before women whine about their plight consider that of men as well please.
